Additional information for those with a background other than Communication Disorders

We encourage students with backgrounds other than in Communication Disorders to apply. Electives are available during the program which will permit making up required undergraduate courses in Communication Disorders.

All students will need to have the following coursework before graduation:

Area Recommended courses
3 semester hours of math Trigonometry, Statistics, or Calculus
3 semester hours of life science Physiology, General Anatomy, Genetics, or Biology
3 semester hours of physical science Basic Physics course covering wave motion
6 semester hours of psychology or sociology Developmental or Experimental Psychology or Counseling

Communicative Disorders SLP content required and can be obtained as electives in the graduate program

  3 semester hours of language development
3 semester hours of language disorders
3 semester hours of speech disorders
