Clinic Requirements for Graduation

Students’ clinical assignments are made with the intent to meet ASHA requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) as well as Audiology licensing requirements of most states. All practicum experience is supervised by individuals holding a current CCC-A. ASHA guidelines for students qualifying under the 2007 guidelines must have an equivalent of 12 months full-time clinical experience, or about 1820 aggregate hours. These 1820 hours are accumulated over the four year AuD program which culminates in a 4th year externship consisting of full time clinical experience. During the first three years of the program, students acquire a broad range of clinical experiences with a wide range of communication disorders and population types. Students’ clock hours are monitored to assure that ASHA and most state Audiology licensing requirements are met.
