Clinic Requirements for Graduation

The successful completion of the clinical experience is required to graduate from the School of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Memphis. All students in the Master’s program with the emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology are required to complete the clinical competencies outlined in the 2005 ASHA SLP Standards; the 1993 ASHA requirements to insure qualification for state licensure; and additional practicum experiences required by the School. Completion of these requirements will provide students with a broad experience across the scope of practice as well as prepare them to qualify for ASHA Certification, Tennessee Teacher License, and state licensure in most states.

The additional U of M requirements are:
1. At least 125 clock hours of the total 375 must be obtained under the direct supervision of the faculty at The University of Memphis.
2. A minimum of fifteen (15) hours in treatment/evaluation/prevention of voice disorders
3. A minimum of fifteen (15) hours in treatment/evaluation of fluency disorders
4. Students must complete a minimum of one semester in a diagnostic practicum under the direct supervision of a clinical faculty member at The U of M.
