The clinical staff of the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center are certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (www.asha.org) in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) or audiology (CCC-A), and are licensed by the State of Tennessee. All audiologists hold a Tennessee State Hearing Aid License. Some of the speech-language pathologists hold specialty board certification/recognition in areas available (Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences, Special Interest Divisions with ASHA). All individuals hold clinical faculty appointments with the School of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology at The University of Memphis.
Client services are provided by graduate students under the supervision of certified, licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists. In addition to seeing clients and providing clinical supervision for graduate students, the speech-language pathologists and audiologists also conduct research and participate in prevention and early identification programs. These specialists provide consultations and work closely with other professionals in health education.
